Kaily Brown graduated from West High School in June 2003. Shortly thereafter, Brown joined the U.S. Army.

Brown attended Basic Training in Ft Jackson, S.C. in November 2003; graduating with an Army Achievement Medal for being selected as Soldier Leader of the Cycle for Charlie Company out of 200 soldiers. From there Brown was assigned to the U.S. Army Signal School Detachment, Ft. Meade, Md. where she took courses in Basic Still Photography and Video Production at the Defense Information School. Brown graduated in October 2004 being awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 25v- Combat Documentation/ Production Specialist.

Brown was assigned to her first duty station at the National Training Center, Ft Irwin, Calif. While there Brown provided quality video products for the Observer/ Controller teams, aiding in the training of thousands of troops in the Global War on Terrorism.

After serving in California for a year and a half Brown was assigned to her next duty station at the Joint POW/ MIA Accounting Command, Hickam AFB, HI. While there Brown deployed worldwide photographically documenting JPAC’s worldwide mission to search for, recover, and identify missing Americans lost during service to their nation. Brown completed 11 JPAC missions in five countries: Vietnam, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Palau, and France.

In May 2009, Brown reenlisted to serve four more years, and have the opportunity to attend the military photojournalism program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

Brown’s short-term goals are to matriculate and finish her degree from Syracuse University, and become Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Brown’s long-term goals are to one day have a family of her own and become photographer for National Geographic Magazine.
