Twin Birch Farms has several Guatemalan workers, ranging in age and experience, who run the dairy-side of the farm in a daily basis. They work 12-hour shifts and milk one thousand cows three times a day, everyday. Isolated from the local community by a language barrier and a feeling of mistrust, the men, many of whom have left behind family and friends, have created a tight bond with one another both in their working and living environments. Cemented together by a love for their culture, a love for cows and a common hobby of soccer, the men spend their free time watching television, sleeping, playing soccer and spending endless hours talking and texting on their cell phones, communicating with their family and friends in the U.S. and in Guatemala. The men desire a more significant relationship with Americans, as they desire to feel about of the country for which they work and earn a living.
