This story is about Laxton's Florist and Nursery. Laxton's Florist and Nursery has been in business for 47 years. Dave Laxton, 72, and his wife, Lois, 69, have lived on the land, 2354 W. Lake Road, for the past 57 years and have carried on the family business for the past three generations.

The business once offered landscaping, but in his old age, Laxton has not been able to continue. Laxton also said that competing with the "big box stores" is difficult.

The land grows a variety of vegetables as part of their harvest share program, which brings fresh produce to their costumers. The florist side of the business, which Lois oversees, receives orders from the community for weddings, funerals and various other celebrations and events.

The land is setup to be environmentally friendly near the lake with the buffer strips between seed beds in order to stop run-off. In addition to their respect the Laxtons have for the lake, they also value their organic practices with their crops.
