Retirement is a business when you’re a fisherman

by Nathan Hutchison | Coach Carrie Niland and Brien Aho

When Miller Brewing Company closed their plant in New York John Warakomski sought professional help.

That professional led John to fly fishing...as a career. “When they shut down, one of the out-placement consultants said that if there is something you love to do you can make money at it,” said John, owner and sole employee of J W Trout, a fly fishing supply and guide business.

John’s business has been active for 15 years, and he considers it a great post-retirement job.

“I enjoy it very much. It’s probably one of the best activities I’ve gotten into,” John said. “I usually relate it to an affair with nature; it’s the safest one you can get involved with.”
