Dan Welch, 53, is a Skaneateles district custodian who loves to collect and maintain antique tractors from the 1930s and 1950s. Born in Skaneateles to a farming family, he learned the value of hard work and his passion tractor collecting as a boy when he helped his father maintain more than 26 acres of land. In addition to farming and tractor collecting, Dan has a true passion for carving pumpkins that socially connects him to the school students year round. He voluntarily carves a pumpkin for the homecoming dance each year and submits artwork to the middle school as well. His volunteer efforts have been awarded by numerous pumpkin contest awards and a great reputation with students and faculty. Dan currently lives in the home he grew up in with his brother Hiram in Skaneateles.
